Video compression / file types

I have a client who is uploading MOV and MP4 videos. I also need them to upload OGG files to play in certain browsers/devices.

I believe Vae can currently convert MOV/MP4 to FLV, but are there other options available such as OGG available?

If this could be done, it would save a lot of headache for the client.

Right now, we convert all videos uploaded to a Video Structure to H.264 format in the MP4 container.

If we enabled Video structures to encode to Ogg/Theora/Vorbis as well, would that be useful for you? We could look into this.

Can you provide information on exactly what format you'd be looking to convert into?

  • With the new version of FlowPlayer that we just rolled out, we can now support iPad/iPhone devices, as well as any browser that supports Flash. We think that is pretty good coverage.

  • so how would I go about using the new player?

  • Ogg encoding would be extremely useful
